China -U.S. Relations

Throughout much of the Bush Administration, U.S. China Relations have been cordial, and continued close and positive relations is essential for both the U.S. and China as China’s rapid economic growth has been transforming the global community.  The economic ties between the two countries are very strong due to a common set of shared interests on security and economic/trade issues.  However, it is true that China exports to the U.S. more than the U.S. exports to China, and the two countries are currently working in cooperation to achieve more of a balanced trading relationship.  In addition, America and China are continuing to engage in dialogues on key issues such as democracy, human rights, intellectual property rights and environmental protection.
